After a busy July filled with commitments in the Karting Rental specialty, ASD Cavalieri Garage, with driver and founder Simone Marchetti, participated in Kartmania 2024, a special event organized by Futura Corse at the Extrema Kart Speedway in Massa Finalese (MO), marking the end of the summer racing season.
Twenty-five drivers competed in a completely new and experimental format. The event consisted of a 10-minute qualifying session and two 10-lap races, with drivers split into two heats based on their qualifying times. The standout feature of this race day was the format of the final for group A (the fastest drivers), where from the third lap onwards, the driver in last place would be eliminated.
During the 10-minute qualifying session, Simone Marchetti clocked in at 45.605 seconds, a time that wasn’t particularly fast, earning him 4th place in the pre-final of group B.
Race 1B, therefore, held over 10 laps, was packed with excitement, with a group of drivers always ready to capitalize on the slightest mistake from their competitors to secure one of the top two positions, which would guarantee access to the overall group A final.
Simone Marchetti lost a couple of positions in the first two laps but took advantage of the tussle among the leading drivers to climb back up to second place. He then fiercely battled with Stefano Bianchi and Emanuele Lizzi for the win, ultimately emerging victorious and finishing first in Race 1, securing his spot in the A final alongside second-place finisher Emanuele Lizzi.
Similar action and close competition unfolded in the final, where Marchetti started from twelfth position, which he maintained until his elimination in the fifth lap, as per the race format.
