On Sunday, June 9th, the third round of the Extrema Iron Series took place, the newly established championship by Futura Corse dedicated to Iron races at the Extrema Kart Speedway in Massa Finalese (MO). ASD Cavalieri Garage is enrolled in the entire championship with Simone Marchetti, who, after missing the first two rounds due to personal commitments, comes to the starting line of the Iron Series eager for redemption after the troubled first round of the Extrema Sprint Series in March. The format of the Iron races consists of a 10-minute qualifying session followed by a 30-lap race with a mandatory pit stop for a kart change.
RACE
With an excellent qualifying performance, Simone Marchetti starts in third position overall with a time of 45"324, securing a spot in Group A among 33 competitors. The race begins with intense action and numerous battles in the middle of the pack, from which the frontrunners manage to break away during the initial laps. The pit stop window opens at the end of the fifth lap, and the various strategies create confusion among the leaders. Simone Marchetti stops on the tenth lap while holding a solid fourth position, preceded by Marco Giuri and Niccolò Mannelli. Due to strategic choices involving very long stints, some drivers are unable to find a free pit lane and opt to continue without the mandatory pit stop, incurring a one-minute penalty. At the end of the race, the standings are adjusted for penalties, with Alessandro Borghi taking the win, followed by Mannelli, Giuri, and Simone Marchetti, who maintains a strong fourth place.
