The first and only event of January, breaking up the off-season, took place at the recently revamped XBikes 2.0 circuit in Ferrara. On Saturday, January 25th, the first endurance race of the year was held for Cavalieri Garage Racing ASD. The 120-lap race lasted just over two hours and saw teams already registered in more prestigious championships compete against debuting teams, for a total of 11 starting teams.
The 25-minute qualifying session rewarded those who avoided traffic on the narrow and technical Ferrarese track, with Jacopo Bondi and Simone Marchetti progressively lowering their lap times to secure the fifth position on the starting grid. The race, which started at 18:30 local time, saw many aggressive drivers attempting risky maneuvers, forcing our team into an undercut strategy during the first stint to avoid getting caught up in the mid-pack battles. This allowed us to move from the unfortunate ninth position in the early laps to a better seventh place, which we maintained until the checkered flag, with no significant duels with other teams.
A return to action that wasn't perfect, considering the untapped potential, but definitely a good training session in preparation for the challenging karting rental programs of 2025.
